My most favorite and beautiful concept in my work is this: We are all born with a natural blueprint of health — who we are in our most natural essence. When we are connected with our natural blueprint this is when we feel most alive and like it is safe to be ourselves and express ourselves freely.
We also possess natural blueprints in other areas of our lives, such as in friendships, romantic relationships, and in our careers. When you are operating from your natural career and leadership blueprint this is when you will experience the greatest level of flow, engagement, and fulfillment.
Uncovering and attuning to your career blueprint is the foundation from which to connect with and define your career purpose because this is when you are expressing your greatest gifts.
Here is part of an exercise I do with my clients – to help you start to sense into when you are most connected with your career blueprint.
Prompt: reflect upon a peak experience from your career. If you cannot think of a peak career experience, think of a peak life experience… an experience from your life when you felt: fully engaged, had a high level of energy throughout that experience, perhaps you knew that you were using your greatest gifts, and throughout this experience you felt like you could be yourself. You felt in the present and were not preoccupied with the future or with over controlling a particular outcome. This could also be described as a flow state.
After we identify peak life and career experiences, I guide clients to attune to what exactly was happening throughout the entire experience.
What specifically were you doing (and get very detailed about this)? If you were to observe yourself from above, what would you have seen? What was your body language like? Your facial expressions? How were you communicating? In a filtered or unfiltered way? Were there people with you? If so, what qualities did these people possess?
These are just some of the questions I help clients answer.
Trauma, disappointments, or societal conditioning can cause imprints on our nervous systems that disconnect us from feeling safe enough to express our natural blueprints. This can manifest as people pleasing, choosing a career path that makes sense vs. what you really want to do, or feeling like you have to be someone you are not.
The beautiful thing is — that despite these strong imprints, it is possible to return to our most natural blueprints, our true essence.
Our bodies will also signal to us when we are leading and living from our blueprint or from imprints. When I am in my blueprint my body feels expansive. My chest expands and my posture is very open. When I am doing something from an imprint, my body is constricted and smaller.
When you are connected with your natural career blueprint you are expressing your greatest gifts and connected with your higher purpose.
